Hey Beautiful!
Have you ever wanted to go to a beautiful national park? Glacier National Park is a park with beautiful scenery, countless mountains, and most of all : memories. I will introduce you to the history, places to visit, and fun facts. So stay tuned, and let's get going.
Throughout the ages, people have sought out Glacier National Park’s rugged peaks, clear waters, and rugged out valleys; its landscape giving both the inspo and peace to those that dare to venture in. The majority of early European explorers came to the area in search of beaver and otter pelts. They were soon followed by miners and eventually settlers. By 1891 the Great northern railway sealed its fate, allowing a greater number of people to enter Montana. Soon small towns were developed. By late 1800’s influential leaders like George Bird Grinell, pushed for creation of the national park. Grinell and others saw their efforts rewarded, when president Taft signed a bill establishing Glacier as the country's tenth national park.
Of course, every national park has a beautiful place to visit. Glacier National Park is abounding in them! Glacier has many historic sites to visit, including historic lodges and Chalets built in the 1910s. There are also park headquarters. Over there you can take a scenic walking tour of the district. Also there is a beautiful Going-To-The-Sun road. The largest glacier is Harrison Glacier, at 1.6 million meters. That’s big, isn't it? At 1,545 Square miles, Glacier National Park is the size of Rhode Island! There are more fun, surprising facts about this beautiful national park, but these are the most interesting.
Would you believe that big, jumpy mountain goats are a symbol of the park? Yes, mountain goats became the official symbol of Glacier in 1910 , because it was the most common animal seen in the park. Glacier National Park is also home to 26 glaciers.
There are many beautiful national parks in this world, but I have chosen this one specifically for your enjoyment. The National Park Service is a great website for more thorough research on the subject. Now, get your equipment. Get your car, and drive into the unknown.
